Fixed Columns

How do I fix a column so it doesn't scroll?

Assume 1st column.

// Sets numbers of left non-scrolling columns.. in this case 3
obj.setFixedLeft(3);

obj.setFixedLeft(3);

does not appear to be working.
anyone have a working example?

Extended Grid is needed here.
