Validating cell contents

Hi,
Is there a way to use AW.Formats.Date or another built-in feature to validate that a user-edited grid cell has a defined date format (mm/dd/yyyy)? I can catch the onCellValidated event and do it in there, but the name of that event implies that some validation was done already. But I cannot find any information on this.

In the future AW.Formats classes will perform validation according to the data type but this is not implemented in 2.0 yet.
