grid selected row

when a row is selected with a mouse the row turns blue. I am moving throught the row array (row 0,1,2,etc) with a button, but the blue highlight always stays on the row selected with the mouse. Can the blue highlight be moved programatically?

On another note, can the number of rows in an xml rowset be determined programmatically?
