Clear selection - AW.UI.Tree

Does anyone know how to clear the selection of a tree control? I have used a variety of techniques, but nothing is working... I tried a combination of clearSelectedModel and setSelectedItems to no avail.

objTree.clearSelectedModel()
objTree.setSelectedItems([]);
