Dropdown box appears when you click on the grid

I'm trying to make it, when I click on a certain column, that for that row/column I just clicked on, a dropdown box template will appear, and after I picked what from the dropdown box, that it will turn back into a normal field.

I just don't like seeing the dropbox boxes, only appear when I click on that part of the grid. I can only seem to change the whole columns, and not just that row I click on.

I'm also having problems with the dropdown box to save what is picked, when doing a refresh. I read somewhere to fix the text to work with XML, but not the dropdown boxes.
