combo box text style...

I wanted to change the format of the text in a select/combo box.But I dont want to change the whole text only a substring of the text
Can it be done if yes then how..??

I believe with the standard HTML object its not possible.

there is a function which call a combo box.I want to use the value of that combo box with the hide combo box.
How i am able to get this.
Please reply me with syntax in HTML&JSP
