vertical align with multiline header

I have a header, which i aligned vertically with

.active-scroll-top * {text-align: center;vertical-align:middle;}

fine!

and I have a multiline header, where i divide the lines by <br/>

the problem is, that the first line appears on the top of the cell,
the second line appears on the bottom

any idea?
